Philanthropy

Applying for Funding

The Trust Company acts as Trustee for a number of charitable trusts where we have a level of discretion in allocating the funds.

2012 Funding Round

The Trust Company has evolved towards an “Engaged Philanthropy” strategy for discretionary charitable trust distributions. In line with this evolution from an online funding round for one-off annual grants, in 2011 we inaugurated 17 strategic partnerships in three defined program areas and included organisations that were active in social enterprise and building out the capacity of the social sector.

The first Symposium at Melbourne Business School was held in March where together with our inaugural Engaged Philanthropy partners we discussed the ‘theory of change’ objective that underlies our Engaged Philanthropy model and we started to define, with our Strategic Partners, the specific themes of interest in each Program Area in line with this objective.

In 2012, we propose to further invest in each of the Program Areas to complement the work of our Strategic Partnership model.

Organisations active in these Program Areas (and meet the eligibility criteria detailed below), are invited to apply for grants in 2012 and are encouraged to:

  1. Make contact by phone or email with our Program Area Leads below to talk about our specific areas of interest and be guided by them as to the specific themes we are starting to focus on in each Program Area in line with our theory of change objective:
