People & Development Advisor

We are seeking a skilled HR professional to join our People & Development team on a fixed term basis (six months).  Melbourne based, this position is responsible for providing HR advice and support across three offices including Melbourne, Brisbane and Singapore.

This is a great opportunity for a bright, enthusiastic and motivated individual seeking to broaden their HR generalist skills within the Financial Services Industry.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all recruitment for designated client group including working with managers to successfully select and onboard new employees
  • Responding to HR-related queries from managers and employees
  • Providing advice and support to managers on employee related activities such as performance management and remuneration reviews
  • Building effective relationships with managers as well as developing appropriate tools to assist in their people management responsibilities
  • Coaching and supporting managers through periods of change
  • Managing workers compensation claims and WHS matters
  • Supporting the People & Development team with projects and other HR related activities as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • At least 3 years experience in a HR Advisor/Consultant role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline
  • Experience managing end-to-end recruitment
  • A good understanding of employment legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers through performance management issues.
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent professional communication skills
  • Experience in Financial Services is preferable.

While this is a full-time position we would consider part-time (30 hours per week) for the right candidate.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Grow the revenue of the VIC business unit. Develop own referral channels, capitalising on all opportunities, work with the BDM to identify and pursue opportunities, coach and lead your team members to achieve their targets
  • Develop the VIC business plan and strategy with ultimate responsibility of implementing subsequent key initiatives.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Proven track record in growing client bases and revenue
  • Demonstrated client engagement and relationship building skills
  • Expert technical financial planning skills
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements
  • Sound knowledge of investments and markets
  • Interpersonal skills are highly developed with the ability to quickly instil confidence in clients, team members and peers.
